May 25 is a special day at Zao525. We like to think of this day as our own little holiday.
We’ve talked about it before: The meaning of our name, Zao525, represents who we are and what we stand for.
From the Greek language, “Zao” means “to live, breathe, be among the living; to enjoy real life; to be fresh, bold, efficient.”
And “525” refers to Galatians 5:25: “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
I like how John MacArthur, a pastor, author and Christian radio host, puts it:
“In other words, if our life, in fact, is in the Spirit positionally, then we ought to walk in the Spirit practically and live it out. ‘Walk’ is a present tense command and it implies just in the word a constant step-by-step pace — progress. Keep on walking, it could be translated. As your life as a Christian unfolds one moment at a time, one day at a time, each step is taken in the power and under the control of the Spirit. This is a command to let your life be ruled by and governed by the Holy Spirit.”
He doesn’t say walk perfectly. He doesn’t say you won’t have missteps. He says keep walking forward, today, tomorrow and the next day.
For me, the concept of progress over perfection leads my actions both personally and professionally. I want to progress. I want to get better. I want to do better, for myself, for the people around me and for my clients.
And ain’t any of us are going to be perfect!
You, small business owner or small business supporter, can understand progress over perfection. Your small business can’t afford the wide-reaching marketing that the big guys can — but you can still reach your target, one step at a time, one campaign at a time, one tactic at a time. Walk to the beat of progress.
Zao’s company culture is all about walking in the fruits of the Spirit, heeding Galatians 5:22;25:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Since we live by the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Love. Joy. Peace. Forbearance. Kindness. Goodness. Faithfulness. Gentleness. Self-control. We walk this walk. We talk this talk.
Today on May 25 — or 5/25 — I urge you to be among the living, to enjoy life here and now, and to strive to be fresh, bold and efficient. I urge you to take your plans, your values, your beliefs and put them to action.
I am. Today I will be meeting with my attorney and good friend — we are each other’s clients, which I love. I help him with his small business marketing, and he helps me not accidentally mess something important up. Watch Facebook and Twitter to see how we celebrate!
Happy 525 Day!
